About Blackpavers

Why make trading automation inspectable?

Blackpavers focuses on the rules, records and operational limits that users need to understand.

A small software team's workspace in Port Elizabeth

A tool company, not a strategy provider

Blackpavers is a small software business based in Port Elizabeth. We build and configure tools that turn a user's written trading rules into testable automation and make the resulting activity easier to inspect. Our work covers strategy configuration, historical testing, supported broker connections, specified risk controls and monitoring views. We serve South African users and small teams who want a clearer account of what their software is doing before and after an order is submitted. Someone new to trading should not mistake that scope for a recommendation to trade. We do not select investments, manage client funds or supply personal investment advice. The user chooses the strategy, decides whether to enable live execution and remains responsible for reviewing the account.

How a configuration earns its place

Since 2022, our working method has started with an ordinary-language description of the rules rather than a performance claim. We identify ambiguities, record assumptions, configure a test workspace and review examples of both expected and unexpected signals with the client. Broker permissions and available data are checked before a live connection is considered. The handover documents settings and points to the event history, so later changes can be discussed against a known starting point. We prefer to explain a missing feature or an unreliable input plainly. Historical tests depend on the data and assumptions used; live orders also depend on market conditions, connection availability and broker behaviour. No configuration can remove those dependencies or establish what future trading will produce.

The questions behind each handover

These checks keep the conversation focused on what is configured and what remains uncertain.

  • Are the strategy rules unambiguous?
  • Which historical data was used?
  • What permissions does the connection require?
  • Which events will trigger an alert?
  • Who reviews changes before live use?

Where our responsibility ends

MythThe provider chooses the right strategy

FactWe configure and explain rules supplied by the user. Whether those rules suit an individual's circumstances is outside this software service.

MythA working connection means every order will fill

FactA connection can transmit a permitted instruction, but the broker and market determine whether an order is accepted or filled and on what terms.

MythMonitoring replaces account review

FactAlerts help draw attention to recorded events. Users still need to review account activity and decide what action, if any, to take.
